Lyrics

Introduction: It's the FA Cup

The dawn has broken

The nation holds its breath

'Til the whistle blows

Footballers in their teams

A dream for every football heart

Have to work hard

To get through the next stage

Then hopefully succeed

On to the road to the FA Cup final

Only the best two teams will get through

Is it gonna be you?

Chorus

This is the FA Cup

The best competition

In this world

Adrenalin pumping

Excitement fills the air

Feverishly from the football fans

Roars from the fans

Adds to the atmosphere

The highs and lows

Of the game

Producers roars of happiness

Of cries of tragedy

Chorus

This is the FA Cup

The best competition

In this world

The competition is hard

But the best football skills

Shine on through

Many teams have come

Many teams have gone

Only two teams will remain

Only one will life the FA Cup

Chorus

This is the FA Cup

The best competition

In this world

The shot of the ball

Heading towards the goal

Fans jumping up and down

It's a goal

We are going to go

To the FA Cup final now

We have won all of our games

In this competition

We are going to the FA Cup Final

The best competition in this world

Spoken: May the best team win

Behind the song

The Football Cup Song

There was a small short column in the British tabloid newspaper The Sun about the English Football Association (FA) was looking for a song or peice of music to rival the European Champions League classical piece of music, which had become quite a hit and everytime ypu heard this piece of classical music you associated it with the European Champions League.

So, I wrote a letter to the English FA and they responsed by giving me the person and the details of where to send of the track.

I went into the recording studio and within an eight-hour recording session, the Football Cup Song was in the can.

I sent it off and no-one from the English FA got back to me, so I took that of a rejection.

However, I decided to release this track to the world, as it is relevant to the best football competition in this world.

I used my Washburn BT9 guitar and a Fender P series bass guitar.

I used my guitar Zoom effects box.

The album was recorded on an early Apple Mac computer running a full version of Cubase 2.0, using an analogue full 24 track mixing desk.

Standard stuido grade mircophones to record vocals and guitar from songs 2 through to ten, were recorded simultaneously.
